Guadalajara

After arriving into mainland Mexico we stayed on the coast at Los Ayala for a few nights before we headed in land. We ended up spending a few days exploring the city of Guadalajara enjoying the cool air and art filled streets.

Staying in the cities can be difficult due to the size of Buddy but we have managed to find carparks that allow you to sleep in the van overnight. These are great for us as we can park in the city from around $7 NZD and have 24/7 security.

We got to experience some Mexican culture attending Lucha Libre with our Kiwi amigos. This was an eye opening experience watching elderly lady screaming at the  faux wrestling. The days were spent exploring cathedral and heading to Mercado Libertad where you can buy anything from faux nikes to a whole pig…

Here’s some snaps from our time there!

Our recommendations:

  1. Go check out the Japanese Garden Colomos it is located in a large park within a short drive from the city centre.
  2. Attend a Lucha Libre fight. These run every Sunday and you can head straight to the arena and pick up a ticket for cheap!
  3. Stroll along Av Chapultepec Sur it is filled with bars and night markets.
  4. Visit the multiple churches in Guadalajara – Guadalajara Cathedral,

Templo Expiatorio del Santísimo Sacramento, Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe
